finding some “me” time
It's essential for moms to carve out some time for themselves. This doesn't necessarily mean spending a whole day at the spa; even half an hour at Starbucks can be rejuvenating. Many moms don't realize that even a few minutes of alone time can be blissful. I often enjoy sitting on the sofa with a cup of coffee, gathering my thoughts, catching up on emails and texts – it's incredibly relaxing. Make a habit of dedicating some "ME time" daily. Set a small goal for something you want to do just for yourself and fit it into your schedule. If you think it's impossible, you're mistaken!
Start by setting daily goals, beginning with something manageable, like a 20-minute jog around the neighborhood. Gradually increase this time. It's easy to get overwhelmed by work, household chores, and family responsibilities. To combat this, first, acknowledge the importance of personal time, then schedule it alongside your work projects and family appointments.
Here are some ideas for squeezing "ME time" into your daily routine:
Enjoy your favorite drink at a local coffee shop.
Get a massage or facial.
Cook your favorite meal.
Go out for lunch or breakfast.
Get a manicure or pedicure.
Watch your favorite movie or show.
Catch up on recorded shows, even if only a part of them.
If you prefer staying in, listen to relaxing music on YouTube with earphones for 15 minutes while the kids are occupied.
Engage in a relaxing hobby.
Listen to mood-lifting music on iTunes.
Meet up with friends for coffee, or arrange a virtual meetup via Zoom if time is tight.
Read a few pages of your favorite book.
Call friends to catch up – it's more engaging than texting!
Remember, it's about shifting your mindset to prioritize yourself. A happy mom equals a happy family! Having some "ME time" reduces stress and helps establish boundaries, teaching your kids that you need personal time too. Set your daily or weekly goals and track your progress – even small wins count!
